Scottie's Bauernmalerei Book 5 is dedicated to teaching you the Austrian style of folk art. This Austrian style is characterized by wet-on-dry painting instead of the usual wet-on-wet style of Germany (Books 1-4 and 6). Most often the flowers are smoothly basecoated with a single color and dried before adding the next layer. Outlines, washes and linework simulate shading and highlighting.
The look of Austrian folk art is a little less "primitive" than it's German neighbor because of the added layer of detail. Still, the folk art of both countries is called "Bauernmalerei"!
